Dr. Nancy Mcquaid
Dr. Mcquaid is a Clinical and Health Psychologist, registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She provides psychodiagnostic assessment and individual therapy to adults.
Her approach to therapy and assessment is guided by psychodynamic and interpersonal theories that are supported by empirical research, in particular attachment theory. She is comfortable working with people with longstanding mental health struggles and people who are experiencing difficulties for the first time. Types of patient concerns she treats include: depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, PTSD, effects of childhood abuse, interpersonal difficulties, coping with health conditions, life transitions, grief and loss, personal growth, identity and self-esteem issues, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and personality disorders.
She completed her PhD in clinical psychology at Simon Fraser University and has worked in community mental health, university and hospital settings, including the Outpatient Psychiatry Department and On Track First Episode Psychosis Program at The Ottawa Hospital. In addition to her private practice, she works part-time at the Plantagenet Family Health Team.
