Acceptance and Comittment Therapy
Acceptance and Committment Therapy - ACT
ACT is a "third-wave" empirically supported psychotherapy that often focuses on helping people identify and live according to their personal values. By using the tools of acceptance, mindfulness, and committed action, people are able to increase their level of psychological flexibility.
The most important part of therapy is your collaboration. Therapy pace and goals are determined by you. To accomplish your goals a variety of therapy tools may be used, which will be discussed with you. Tools for ACT include values worksheets, mindfulness, meditation, acceptance, and committed action. The skills of mindfulness and meditation are often immediately helpful and the benefits increase the longer your practice the skills.
